Wild In Art Sculptures

Stomp round Leicester

Stomp round Leicester was a sculpture trail in Leicester.

From 14th July to 21st September there were 40 giant elephants and 82 baby elephants.

Stomp round Leicester is organised by Wild in Art along with many other similar installations. They work with charities to devise and install such installations of statues which are sponsored and, at the end of the trail time, sold to aid the charity.

As you can see from the App Statistics page, there were 122 sculptures to collect in total. The forty large ones were mainly in the open air and the Eighty Two were smaller ones contained indoors, in shopping centres and similar.

We travelled over to Leicester by train and enjoyed the days wandering around. We found many places that we’d not been to in Leicester and its surroundings before.

The App contains a map which shows you where you are as you wander around and also which Elephants are nearby. When you click on an Elephant’s icon it opens to an information page that describes the Elephant, who made it, etc. and also allows you to enter a code found on the Elephant to “claim” it as found.

The App also monitors your steps as you wander around. You can see on the righthand picture this totalled 32,086.
