The Peter Rabbit sculptures were spread across Newcastle Upon Tyne and North Tyneside.

Tales on the Tyne is organised by Wild in Art along with many other similar installations. They work with charities to devise and install such installations of statues which are sponsored and, at the end of the trail time, sold to aid the charity.

Tales on the Tyne spread across greater Newcastle and across to the coast at Tynemouth and all the way up to Whitley Bay. All the statues were based on the Peter Rabbit model and were decorated individually.
There were 96 statues in all, these included large statues which were mainly displayed outside and collections of smaller statues, or “fluffles” which were inside shopping centres, libraries, etc.
The fluffles were often displayed so that they could be seen through a window but we were caught out couple of times and had to return to a location when it opened.
We stayed in Newcastle city for three nights and completed the trail over two and a half days. It was on;y just enough time to find them all due to the locations out of the city itself. To collect an animal you had to add the unique serial number found at the base of the statue to the App. The screenshot on the left shows that all the various animals were collected.
It also shows its count of steps that we did. The figure is quite low as it didn’t seem to be counting on the second full day.
The map to the left shows the locations in and around Newcastle City and the one on the right shows the ones along the coast.
Although we did take advantage of the Metro and buses there was still a lot of walking involved.
