Having decided on Styrofoam for the outer rings of the floatation chamber construction I set about trying to draw the shape so that it could be cut.
A simple operation so I thought but nowhere could I find a compass large enough to draw a circle for the shape of the ends of the floatation chamber. So – let’s make one!

We start with a humble school compass. One which would come apart fairly easily so that the “point” and the “pencil holder” can be separated.

Undo the screw to release the two arms, drill a second hole in each arm and attach to the legs of the big compass

The completed compass and the template curves it helped to draw, outer and inner curves of the floatation chamber Styrofoam ring.
